Are you feeling less motivated with your running? Are you struggling to find that brilliant run? Are you struggling to just lace up your shoes and get your butt out the door?
All three have applied to me these past couple weeks. I’ve decided that I need to start focusing on some short term goals with my running specifically. I need to do more races. I haven’t ran a race since March when I did the Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, SC. {Not including the Labor Day 5 Miler Virtual Run hosted by Laura @ Mommy Run Fast.}
What better way to revitalize the fun with running than getting color bombed along a 5k route? Well that’s exactly what Color Me Rad does!

Color Me Rad – Columbia, SC

A few months ago we found out that Color Me Rad was coming to Columbia, SC. In the process of signing up Team Happy Wheels, Tracey Rankin (the program director of the Columbia branch) found out that they partner with a local charity and one had not been chosen yet.
So what did all us Happy Wheels supporters do? Bombarded Wyatt’s email with requests to choose Happy Wheels as that charity of course! And it worked! In the words of Color Me Rad, Happy Wheels is the best volunteer group they’ve worked with!

We all started out clean and pearly white as can be!

Those that have voted for the Strawberry Shortcake knee highs, I hope you saw my vlog explaining what happened with them.
But I did sport my #runchat temporary tattoo right on my face, just like you guys said I should!

Of course, we were all so excited that we couldn’t wait to even start the race before tearing open our extra color bombs.

My girls Brandi & Jean getting color happy!
We were off to a great start! I didn’t worry too much about running the whole way…I preferred to keep together with my friends & take loads of pictures to document all this RAD-ness.

There were thousands of people that showed up, so it was nice running into friends along the way!

Charlotte and me
The color stations were totally crazy! The blue station had boxes of cornstarch instead of “bombs” and we got showered with blue…SMURFS!!

The yellow station was liquid color. And I got splattered right on the side of my face and in my ear. As we came out of it, I heard this guy say it looks like pee. Right about the same time I was thinking, great I look like someone peed on my face. Ummm….yeah.
The finish line was just a shower of pink!

But the finish line wasn’t the end…We continued into the parking lot for a color party!
But all good things must come to an end. And some of us Happy Wheels volunteers signed up for clean up crew, so our good time ended with work. But all in good fun too!

Sweeping up all that pink cornstarch!
There was no need for me to work out after this. Notice those metal gates in the background?? We moved some of those. I moved one on my back with my arms extended. Yeah, I was showing off. I wish I had photo evidence of it…but I assure you, I had at least 4 witnesses that can account to the fact that it actually happened!! I wonder how much they weigh…

Naomi
Just so you know…her socks are really blue.

So Saturday I went out and got colored RAD…think you’re RAD enough to do it too??
Oh…and I’m still cleaning yellow out of my ear.

That looks like so much fun!!! I couldn't help but smiling while seeing all of your pictures! Great job. I hope you get back to a regular routine soon! I know you can do it!!
My recent post Forrest N Leamon Memorial 10k recap
Thanks!! It was a blast! I can't wait to do it again next year! I'm thinking I might join a local running club to help motivate and improve myself too. They have one tonight that sounds like fun. An easy 3 mile run around town and end up at the pub for some drinks afterwards. Not too shabby, eh? Think I just might have to check it out.
Sounds like a ton of fun! That #runchat tattoo fits in nicely.
My recent post Dress rehearsal success
Thanks for reading David! It was a blast! The #runchat tattoo faired up pretty well even with all that was thrown at it!
Your own blog, “Motivation Mondays: Breaking up the monotony!
