#WIAW: SC Farmer’s Market!

A new month = a new WIAW theme! I think Jenn and I are totally on the same wave length. I guess telepathy really does work. With all my talk of goal setting and meal planning, I’m really hoping to focus on those good habits that I mentioned.

I decided to drag PJ with me to the SC Farmer’s Market on Saturday. I wanted to see what all they had out there now. I was specifically looking for eggs to see if I could buy a bulk of them in order to save some money in the long run.

I’m glad I did! We came across a whole other shed of tables that I didn’t even notice the few times that I’ve been. Curiosity doesn’t always kill the cat! :) In fact, we totally scored on some great deals all because I wanted to drive around and see what else was out there.

Strawberries – $12 for the flat
Pineapples – 2 for $5
Eggs – $6 for the flat
Raspberries – $6 for 2
Grapes – $1.99/lb
Bananas – $0.49/lb

Can you see me doing my happy dance?? I was ecstatic to come across this farm where we got the whole haul from! The lady even gave me a 10% discount card to use in their store at the front of the market, which is where I picked up the eggs and a couple of things to snack on while we finished our running around.

I don’t drink soda much anymore, but I couldn’t pass up a nice cold Orange Crush in a bottle on a hot Saturday!

While roaming around their store, we came across some T.O.E. jam. I’d like to say that we had some good jokes to say about it, but I really was speechless. No lie!

So we are pretty much stalked up on strawberries! About 2/3 of them went in the freezer for some smoothies and the other 1/3 in the fridge to be consumed fresh or in recipes! Yum!

I did the same with one of the pineapples. They were sooooo sweet! {need a napkin to wipe your drool with??}

I just loved waking up on Sunday to a fridge stocked like this! Oh the possibilities!

Here’s a couple of ways I’ve been enjoying the strawberries lately…

Fresh with some eggs and whole wheat toast

Strawberry jam on pancakes topped with fresh strawberry

In smoothies!

Berrilicious Oat Squares

So, the good habit that we’re going to be “falling” into this month? Meal planning and buying fresh veggies from the Farmer’s Market every week for our meals! It’s okay to be jealous…I don’t mind. ;)

How do you like using your strawberries?
